scarlet fields with chanelle (+ a video where i talk about film photography)

Earlier this year, I was approached by Taylor Johannson, a student at BCIT, to be in a short documentary regarding film photography. She proposed that her and her crew would interview me and film me shooting a roll of film. I agreed, because I couldn’t find a reason not to. I put a call out on instagram to see if anyone would be willing to let me shoot them and I was so excited when Chanelle messaged me.

If you don’t know Chanelle, I’m sorry because she’s a 10/10 person and you’ve been missing out. She’s an actor and she sings and she’s funny and kind and such a pleasure to be around. We took some photos for the documentary, and then we took some photos for ourselves.

The black and white photos below were shot on ilford film on my nikon FG with a 28mm 1.8 lens for the doc, there are some color film photos from a roll of expired superstore 100 film (i know) on my stylus epic dlx, and there are some digital photos from my 5d mii as well. Some of the photos were taken on a stroll and some were taken at my home.

oh yeah! here’s a link to that doc if you want to hear me talk and see how a roll of film gets developed.

Anyway, here’s a link to Santigold’s Gold Fire for your listening pleasure if you’d like. I would also like to thank Taylor and her whole crew for including me in this very cool project.
